Chopin Piano Academy
It is my pleasure and great honor to welcome everyone to the inaugural Chopin Piano Academy, presented by the Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in Washington D.C. Following the exciting first edition of last year's competition, we wanted to create an event that combines a competitive aspect with an educational one, at the same time paying homage to the great Polish composer on the highest possible level. Chopin Piano Academy 2019 offers exactly that. We are very humbled and honored to host Piotr Paleczny, Jeffrey Swann and Krzysztof Jablonski, the leading Polish and American pianists and artists, who for decades have been instrumental in nurturing the legacy of Frederic Chopin. I am confident that our participants will find their expertise inspiring and equally motivating. As the Artistic Director, I would like to wish everyone an unforgettable weekend, filled with new musical experiences and new musical friendships.
Description
Eight young pianists participated in the Washington DC first-ever Chopin Piano Academy. The Chopin Piano Academy is an bi-annual intensive program of masterclasses and performances with the world’s leading Chopin experts Piotr Paleczny, Krzysztof Jablonski, and Jeffrey Swann, each of whom are lauded prize-winners from the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw. The eight chosen pianists will have the opportunity to work with these renowned musicians in a series of public masterclasses. All who attend the masterclasses will have the rare opportunity to witness a deep exploration of Chopin’s music. In addition, the faculty artists and students will perform in two public recitals.
